I'm celebrating my 53rd year on this planet by releasing my new photo book, East Levee Road, and a mini-documentary about the process as a companion piece. This project took over three years to complete and is my "Misogi" for 2024.
“East Levee Road by Benjamin Fargen is a compelling visual journey through a narrow strip of land nestled between Rio Linda, Highway 99, and the Sacramento River. Born from a search for nature and solitude during the pandemic, Benjamin Fargen captures the intricate dance between untouched beauty and the remnants of human interference. This photo book explores the delicate relationship between man and nature, questioning how our connections to the natural world are formed and why some of these bonds endure stronger than others. Through his lens, Fargen invites readers to reflect on the often complex and contradictory landscapes we inhabit and shape.”
I want to take a moment to extend an extra special thank you to Bryan Schutmaat and Matthew Genitempo of Trespasser Books and Fotofilmic for offering the book-making workshop I attended in September 2023. This workshop inspired me to revamp and complete this project.I would also like to thank Filippo Barbero for his guidance and patience in helping me with the final sequencing of this book. If you are inspired, you can follow this link to purchase the book on my website.
